Annual full-body skin exams are recommended for high-risk patients. - [Mohs Surgery](https://dermatologyseattle.com/services/skin-cancer/mohs-surgery): Gold-standard surgical technique for BCC and SCC in high-risk locations (face, ears, nose, eyelids, lips, scalp, hands, feet, genitals). Mohs achieves the highest cure rates of any skin cancer treatment — up to 99% for primary BCC. Tissue is excised and examined in real-time under a microscope; the surgeon removes only cancerous tissue, layer by layer, until margins are clear. Fellowship-trained at Mayo Clinic and University of Miami. - [Basal Cell Carcinoma](https://dermatologyseattle.com/services/skin-cancer/basal-cell-carcinoma): Most common cancer in the United States. Rarely metastasizes but can cause significant local destruction if untreated. Risk factors include UV exposure, fair skin, immunosuppression, and prior radiation. - [Squamous Cell Carcinoma](https://dermatologyseattle.com/services/skin-cancer/squamous-cell-carcinoma): Arises from keratinocytes. Can metastasize, particularly in immunocompromised patients or tumors on lips, ears, or in scars.
